Go MAD Giveaway

Andy Gilbert, Group Managing Director of Go MAD Thinking, entered the Poker Face TV quiz show to demonstrate the power of the Go MAD Thinking System. From over 10,000 people he successfully made the final three. Now he has decided to make a difference and give away his £65,000 prize winnings to help 1,000 people with £65 each.

However, you cannot ask for money to help yourself or support other charity fundraising, religious or political activities. This blog is about challenging you to use your thinking skills to make a positive difference, preferably sustainable, and help others to "Pay It Forward". What difference could you make? Please post your requests and comments.

Keep Posting Your Requests

I have had some great requests this week for money to help young people (see comments under my 1st June posting) and from people who are willing to put some of their time into making a difference.

Well done to Evan & Tim from Superdrug who have managed to turn 2 x £65 into £760 and have challenged 76 managers to make a difference with £10 each. I look forward to you measuring the results in due course.

Keep the requests coming, there is still a lot to give away. If you don't want to Go MAD with £65, that's okay - tell a friend who might want to make a difference.

Hi Andy, hope you are well. On thursday evenings I coach the youngsters at my local cricket club (Clitheroe Cobras) and well over 100 kids attend....which is a bit of a nightmare - but we get through it!!! Also, having progressed through the youth system myself i would love to give something back.

I will ask around, but im sure the money could be used to help buy equipment e.g. the blue plastic "kwik cricket" sets we use to train the younsters. I will make sure the money has something "tangible" to show for it and doesn't just go back into the pot (my dad is treasurer - so this shouldn't be a problem).

regards

tom

p.s. I am contactable at tbailey7@hotmail.co.uk and i think you still have my mobile number??

Great idea, Andy. What about using some of the money to help our UK neighbours badly affected by the recent floods in S. Yorkshire & Hull? Insurance companies are still to pay out, and local authorities, voluntary agencies and emergency services have rescued the communities and are helping them to survive. £65 each for the residents of Toll Bar and other communities where people have lost everything could buy new clothes, food, etc. and help them get back on their feet. I think Sheffield City Council and Hull City Council would know who was most badly affected and could help identify those residents in greatest need of any financial and emotional support.

Just another thought to add. Some of the money could go towards flood prevention or Early Flood Warning response for any future floods in these areas.e.g telephone call/ mobile phone list of residents in these communities so local emergency services & local residents could co-ordinate a rapid call round/ text round if and when it happens again. That's the sustainable bit.

Hi Rob B.
Great ideas. Who do you know in this area affected by floods who would either benefit or help others to benefit? If you want to contact either of the councils, please do so. I am keen to give the money to individuals (rather than organisations) who will take responsibility for making a difference. If you want to get a couple of names and addresses we could surprise people!

Hi Andy
just to give you an update on the Bees. They have settled in and are now producing Honey (despite the weather) so the crop is on target (will keep you updated through the summer). We will be harvesting the honey in September. We will pass the £65 on to the best idea within Everards Brewery and the rest will be presented to a cancer charity.
Regards
Ian Smith

Hi there - whilst I don't know what I would do for my quest or adventure - I think this therefore defines the nature of the activity!!

Surprise people and make their day. See people smile and add value to their summer (?!) and generally use it for the good of others.

I'd love to take part. I'm contactable at mark108janet@ntlworld.com.

Thanks

Hi Andy
I manage an organisation called Inspire in Nottingham working with people with learning disabilities. We've got a shop where our members volunteer and do work experience. The shop is only small and our idea is to use £65 towards converting part of the cellar to open up as more sales space. We can then turn the £65 into much more money as we will have more stock on show and can accomodate more customers! hope you agree

Hi Gerri,

This sounds a great idea. I am also sending you an additional £65 to go on a one week adventure/quest (see my later postings) as you seem like the sort of person that could make a difference through helping others.
